Website Review: VeggieBoards.com

VeggieBoards.com is a great community of dedicated vegetarians and posters. The site started as just a vegetarian and vegan forum but now has built in blogs, vegetarian personals, and personals. The owner has kept his focus throughout the website’s growth period and has pulled in a large group of regular posters. VeggieBoards was where I first went when I wanted to become vegetarian but still had concerns about health issues and nutritional concerns. I still post there on a not so regular basis (when I run out of other things to do). The community is very nice and accepting, especially for newcomers who seem to be clueless.
The blog feature on the website is relatively new and honestly I’m not sure what I think of it. It was originally setup differently and perhaps more user friendly. However, I believe the setup changed to get more users posting on the hosted blogs rather than to get readers. Still however, if you go to the blog section of the site you will see the links to the most recent posts and/or most popular posts.
They now have a t-shirt section with some hilarious choices. Personally I like the most obscene one there “F*** Carnivores” but there are other less vulgar choices as well. All carry a vegetarian theme. This is the first time I’ve seen the shirts since the last update, and really I’m tempted to buy a few. According to the site…10 new shirts are added each month. I don’t know for sure whether these shirt designs are owned by VeggieBoards or someone else, just to clarify.
The personals section has always intrigued me but I’ve never actually used it. I always had the feeling that the listings were old and abandoned, although I don’t know if that is true or not. I looked through it once, but no one really lived near me and I’m far too lazy to travel to meet someone on a blind date. There are vegetarians in every town, one must just be driven enough to go find them!
Overall, the VeggieBoards website and forum is a great place to learn, mingle, and debate with like-minded and not so like-minded vegetarians and vegans.
